David Balfour

“It’s this way about a man and a woman, ye see, Davie: The weemenfolk have got no kind of reason to them. Either they like the man, and then a’ goes fine; or else they just detest him, and ye may spare your breath - ye can do naething...”

In Kidnapped, David Balfour, an orphaned young heir whose greedy uncle connives to do him out of his inherited fortune plots to have him seized and sold into slavery. David then finds himself fleeing for his life in the dangerous company of outlaw and suspected assassin Alan Stewart.

David Balfour, written as a sequel to Kidnapped, finds David, who has recently managed to claim his inheritance from his treacherous uncle, fighting to clear the names of his best friends James and Alan, who have been unjustly implicated in a sensational killing.

In the process he meets the beautiful and daring Catriona Drummond, and finds that nothing will ever be the same again.

David Balfour is a magnificent tale of love, peril, and political intrigue set amidst the stately grandeur of old Edinburgh.
