Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Bookshelf. We've kept them short and readable.

Who we are

Bookshelf (bookshelf.page) is run by Wioks Global, S.L., CIF B67621250, C/ Sant Josep, 132-134, P.I. El Pla, 08980 Sant Feliu de Llobregat (Barcelona), Spain. Contact: librarian@bookshelf.page.

The service

Bookshelf lets you keep a shelf of the books you read, share it, follow other readers and recommend books. It's free to use. We may add optional paid features in the future; if we do, the free version will remain and nothing will be charged without your explicit agreement.

Your account

Your content

The books, ratings, notes, photos and covers you add are yours. You give us permission to store them and show them on Bookshelf according to your privacy settings, including on your public profile and in the embed on your website if you use it. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

Only upload images you have the right to use. Don't post content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, spam, or that violates someone else's rights or privacy.

Acceptable use

Don't misuse Bookshelf: no automated scraping beyond what our public pages and embed allow, no attempts to break or overload the service, no creating accounts in bulk, and no using it to send spam. We may suspend accounts that do, or that break these terms, and we'll tell you why when we can.

Book information

Book details, covers, ratings and quotes come partly from third parties such as Open Library, Apple Books, Google Books and Wikiquote, and partly from readers. We're not affiliated with any of these services. We do our best, but this information may be incomplete or wrong. Covers and quotes belong to their respective rights holders. Quotes from Wikiquote are available under the CC BY-SA licence.

If you're a rights holder and something here shouldn't be, write to librarian@bookshelf.page and we'll take it down.

Availability and responsibility

We work to keep Bookshelf running and your data safe, but we provide it as it is and can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect damages or for losses caused by events outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer or our responsibility for gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms. If the change is important, we'll let you know in advance by email or on the site. If you don't agree, you can stop using Bookshelf and delete your account. We may also discontinue the service; if that ever happens we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to download your data.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you're a consumer, you can bring a claim in the courts of your place of residence, and you keep the protections of the law of your country.
